Types of Tours

Welcome to Ecotours by Agnes!

Now that you arrived at this page, you may be asking yourself, ``What`s so different about these tours?`` I often asked myself this question when travelling, unable to find the experiences I desired - to be immersed in the authentic local life with opportunities for adventure and  time to explore - and torn between the typical all-inclusive resorts and the party-dominated hostels. And so I decided to create a sustainable company with a sense of adventure where I could share with you these hand-picked gems of experience, either from my own travels related to volunteering or research work, or those of my professional and academic colleagues. Here you will find the whole package: years of academic & practical experience in ecotourism and sustainable travel, support and protection plan provided by Canada`s leading travel specialists from Carlson Wagonlit Travel Source, and local partners in each destination who know these places intimately unlike your typical travel agent who, let's face it, cannot know all destinations. My intent is to place these destinations on a center stage to amaze you, challenge you, inspire you, and reconnect you with nature and true community - and perhaps with your authentic self. There are tours and there are life-changing adventures; I am honoured to facilitate Yours!

My Philosophy & Traveller Code of Ethics

Unique Aspects of my Ecotours

1. AUTHENTIC local experiences off the beaten path

Through conferences, my research work and my own travel I personally meet and get to know local operators, small businesses, community projects and guides, and develop working relationships.

2. HOLISTIC adventure, nature and culture engaging your body, mind and spirit

My ecotours and their locations are designed to be flexible in order to offer a variety of experiences to different travellers with individual travel styles.

3. SUSTAINABLE local and eco-certified

I support local small businesses and sustainable projects by using their services while excluding large hotel chains and corporate partners drawing profits outside of these countries. My tours follow an ecotourism code of ethics, support nature conservation efforts, use only eco-certified accommodations, aim to support local family businesses, and use local produce and transportation.

4. CUSTOM itineraries, small groups, time to explore

Don`t you hate being rushed on your tours?! I do and I vouched to pay special attention to this aspect of my ecotours. You will have flexible time to explore the area at your pace, stop for a photo, or have a moment to admire the landscapes – all because you can choose your accommodation in each region instead of fitting in a pre-designed program.

5. EXPERT designed by Ecotourism Consultant with local ecotourism operators

I use local eco-certified agencies at each destination who work with me on-location to complete your itineraries according to YOUR timelines and desires.

6. TICO consumer protection plan

My contract with Carlson Wagonlit Travel Source offers you full protection plan in case something goes wrong and your trip doesn`t unfold as planned.
